Background
Jelena Vuckovic was born in Nis, Serbia, and was educated at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering of the University of Nis, Serbia (Diploma in Engineering, 1994), and at the California Institute of Technology - Caltech (MSc and PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1997 and 2002, respectively). She also held research assistant positions at the University of Nis (1994-1995), and at the University of Sydney, Australia (in 1996). After graduating from Caltech, she spent a year (2002) working as a postdoctoral scholar in Applied Physics at Stanford University. In 2003, she joined the faculty in the Electrical Engineering Department and Ginzton Laboratory at Stanford, where she is currently an Associate Professor and a Chambers Faculty Scholar. She leads the Nanoscale and Quantum Photonics research group and her research focuses on experimental nanophotonics and quantum photonics.
