A journal devoted to theory and computation in molecular chemistry, physics and biology
The International Journal of Quantum Chemistry is concerned with the quantum mechanical description of the structure, properties, and dynamics of atoms, molecules, condensed matter, and biomolecular systems. In addition to formal development of theory and related mathematical and numerical applications, the Journal is interested in publishing applications where quantum mechanical concepts interact with molecular and phenomenological modeling. The scope of the Journal includes papers dealing with such diverse topics as formal developments in theory, simulations of dynamical processes, calculation of molecular properties, and phenomenological modeling.
In addition to its mandate to publish original papers in the areas of development of basic theory and in the application of computational quantum mechanics to interesting problems in atomic, molecular, condensed matter, and biological problems, the Journal wishes to promote work which lies at the interface of quantum mechanics and statistical mechanics.
The Journal does not, however, publish papers which report simple application of standard programs to systems where the chemical or physical result is not fully justified.
In addition to regular issues, the Journal publishes proceedings from appropriate conferences, such as the Sanibel Symposia. These, and occasional topical or honorary issues, are normally coordinated by a Special Editor. Papers submitted to such issues, invited or not, are subject to the normal refereeing procedure of the Journal. The Journal published book reviews and occasional review papers on topics of current interest.
The publication policies of the journal are determined and executed by the working editors, and an editorial board, whose members serve staggered five year terms.
